The Caretta-Caretta turtle is the beloved symbol of Zakynthos. These ancient reptiles, which can grow up to 1.5 meters long and weigh as much as 200 kg, have been nesting on the islands beaches for thousands of years. During this adventure, you’ll have the chance to witness these magnificent creatures up close, while our expert guide shares fascinating facts about their behavior and the importance of their preservation. You’ll even learn how to tell if a turtle is male or female!

As we set off from the southern shores of Zakynthos, youll board a traditional Greek kaiki boat, a charming wooden vessel used by local fishermen. The boat ride will take you through stunning waters, where you can admire the vibrant colors of the sea. Along the way, we will explore a series of magnificent caves, each with its own unique palette of colors.

Make sure to bring your swimming masks and a small snack for the fish, as we stop for a refreshing swim in the Ionian Sea’s crystal-clear waters.

One of the highlights of this trip is the island of Marathonissi (also known as Turtle Island), which has the distinct shape of a giant turtle. On its sandy beach, you might even spot hidden turtle eggs—a truly magical experience.
