Our first stop on Kefalonia will be the Saint Gerasimos Monastery, one of the island’s most revered sites. Saint Gerasimos is the patron saint of Kefalonia, and his monastery is a place of great religious significance. You’ll have the chance to touch his holy relics and visit the small cave where the saint lived in solitude for six years. Next, we’ll head to the Drogarati Cave, an awe-inspiring natural wonder. Located 60 meters below ground, this massive cave is home to ancient stalactites and stalagmites—some more than 20,000 years old. The cave is so vast that it can accommodate over 500 people! In the summer months, it is also used as a concert hall, with world-renowned opera singers like Maria Callas and Luciano Pavarotti having performed here. After exploring Drogarati, we’ll make our way to Melissani Cave, another natural marvel.
This unique cave features a lake at its base, illuminated by sunlight that pours in through a hole in the ceiling. You’ll have the opportunity to take a boat ride across the lake, surrounded by the cave's shimmering blue waters. Don’t forget your camera—it’s a picture- perfect moment!
Following our exploration of the caves, we’ll stop in the charming village of Agia Efimia for a traditional Greek lunch at one of the local tavernas. Enjoy delicious local flavors and take in the relaxed, island atmosphere.
After lunch, we’ll make our way to Myrtos Beach, one of the most famous beaches in Kefalonia. With its crystal-clear waters in shades of blue, from turquoise to deep navy,Myrtos Beach is the perfect place to snap some photos and soak in the beauty of the Ionian Sea.
Finally, we’ll head to Argostoli, the capital of Kefalonia, where we’ll explore the charming old town. The city is full of Venetian-style buildings, monumental temples, and historical landmarks, with our guide providing fascinating insights into the island’s history, myths, and traditions.
At the end of this action-packed day, we’ll return to Pessada Port for the ferry ride back to Zakynthos, full of memories and stories from your magical journey on Kefalonia Island.
