Swimming pool and outside space

The inviting private pool is surrounded by a stone terrace with plenty of sunbeds for soaking up the summer sun. 2 steps lead up to a covered terrace with a dining table and chairs overlooking the pool. This terrace wraps round the side of the villa, where there is a further seating area with lovely views of the surrounding countryside and over the Ionian Sea. A perfect spot for relaxing with a glass of wine. There is also a portable BBQ for those alfresco meals.

Entrance

The villa is accessed from a country lane, with ample off-road parking for 2 hire cars in a tree- shaded area. A wooden gate leads past the pool area, to the side of the villa where there are 2 steps up to the front door.

Living space and kitchen

The open plan kitchen, living and dining room has a bright and airy feel with 2 sets of patio doors opening from the lounge on to the covered terrace. The living room also has wooden beamed ceilings adding character to the space, which is well furnished with 2 sofas, flat screen TV and a feature fireplace. A dining table and chairs separates the living area from the spacious and fully equipped kitchen.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

There is 1 double bedroom on the ground floor with a small private balcony with sea views, as well as a bathroom. On the first floor there is a further double bedroom and a twin room, both with private balconies also looking out to sea. These rooms have use of a shared bathroom. All the bedrooms are bright and pleasantly furnished.

Villa Location

Villa Andon is a detached property with a fabulous countryside setting in Xirocastelo, ideally located to explore the surrounding resorts and beaches. The resort of Argasi is a 5 minute drive away, where you will find a number of shops, boutiques and restaurants. To the south is the beautiful Vasilikos Peninsula, a 10 minute drive away, with plentiful sandy beaches. The island’s capital, Zante Town, can also easily be reached within a 15 minute drive.

Local markets and shopping

The nearby resort of Argasi offers a wealth of souvenir shops along its main street and side roads. Zante Town also has a wide selection of shops to suit all tastes, from jewellery and clothes, to gifts and souvenirs. Further afield, on a drive into the mountains, explore the craft village of Volimes. Wander through the village bartering for local crafts and souvenirs with the stall holders and purchase wonderful herbs and honey all locally produced in Zante. For daily essentials you will find a mini market less than 5 minutes drive away from Villa Andon, and a larger supermarket is a 10 minute drive away.

Restaurants and Bars 

Xirocastelo is a fantastic base from which to explore the full range of dining experiences Zante has to offer. There has been an influx in recent years of fine dining restaurants flourishing in and around the nearby resort of Argasi – many offering spectacular sea views as you dine. A great choice of more traditional tavernas can be found if you venture south along the scenic Vasilikos Peninsula or further north, into Zante Town. Continue your evening in one of the many bars either in the resort of Argasi or Zante Town.

Beaches

Xirocastelo is the doorway to the Vasilikos Peninsula – famous for its pine forests and sandy beaches. Follow the coastal road through shady pine forests as it weaves its way to the very tip of the south-east peninsula. Within a 20 minute drive you will find the beautiful sandy beaches of Kaminia, Porto Zorro, Dafni and Porto Roma and Gerakas. Dafni and Gerakas beaches are nesting sites for the protected Loggerhead Turtles and remain unspoilt and natural. Along the same stretch, Banana Beach and St Nicholas Beach offer a more modern vibe with trendy beach bars and a wealth of watersports on offer.

Family fun

Argasi has a mini golf courses – World Tour Mini Golf – firm favourites with families and couples alike. A Tourist Train links Argasi with Zante Town along the coastal road, taking in the sites along the way and terminating at Solomos Square, the main square in Zante Town. The Water Village water park in Sarakinado is under 30 minutes’ drive away and offers a selection of rides, flumes and pools to keep the whole family entertained. Children can explore the jungle-themed play area with slides, water shoots and water jets.

Places of interest

Zante is famous for the picturesque Shipwreck Bay . Explore the mountains by car stopping off at the viewpoint overlooking the shipwreck for some fantastic photos. Or why not drive to Porto Vromi, an hour away, and take a boat into the bay itself to see the shipwreck up close? Bocchali, on the hill overlooking Zante Town, is a beautiful place to visit. Sit in one of the cafes with a cool drink whilst enjoying the view over the town or wander up to the ruins of the Venetian Castle.
